She knew it well, that feeling. That feeling of love, trust, saftey...The way he looks at you and you just know that everything would be alright...He was wrong. Nothing was alright now...Nothing ever would be...
"...Why did you have to go?" her voice was soft, bearly audible against the sounds of the river that spilled over the rocks that were unfortunate enough to get in it's way. The voice belonged to a she-wolf, an odd looking one to he completly honest. She was lanky and tall, her long legs attached to massive paws, paws that were at least twice the size of your average wolf paws. Her ears were large and round, like satalite dishes pinned to her skull, swiveling this way and that with each sound made. Her tail was shorter than most and twice as fluffy. Her maw was long and slender with a beady little black nose pinned at the end. She hadn't a name, for Death had taken in in exchange for her very life...Firefly, her mate, however, was less fortunate...
Firefly was a massive male, with his large muscles and jagged fangs,he protected her from everything...yet he couldn't protect himself from the only thing that could drag him down: His anger. Firefly had been walking with the She-Wolf when another male crossed their path. The male made some snippy little snot-nosed comment about the She-Wolf's apperance, setting off Firefly's anger. He attacked the male, the battle was short lived, Firefly emerging the victor, as he knew he would. Yet something wasn't quite right, he couldn't settle down, his anger burned inside him, raging and uncontrolled...He attacked the She-Wolf, leaving her battered and bruised before falling over from exhaustion...He had a heart attack and died almost instantly. The She-Wolf was left alone for days, bleeding and cursing herself for things she knew she was not responsible for, when she felt the cold grip of Death upon her. She did not beg nor did she plead, she simply called out Firefly's name, causing Death to chuckle and offer her a bargain: "Give my your name, and You shall keep your life...". The She-Wolf listened intently to his offer, contemplating the options quickly before stating her name : "...Reverse..."....And the deal was made. Death had stolen her name, and given her life...Yet the feeling was different. She no longer longed for Firefly to come back, she only cared for herself...
She lived alone, by herself until she stumbled across another female by the name of Vigilante. Vigilante was half the size of the She-Wolf, and twice as fluffy. Vigilante had been searching for her brother, Revolution, for quite some time. It was a difficult matter, for she only knew his name, nothing else. The two had crossed paths and came to an aggreement...
"It is too dangerous to travel alone out here, She-Wolf..." Vigilante stated in her naturally smooth and gentle tone.
"...What you speak is true...Perhaps we should stay side-by-side, nothing would dare to attack two wolves, female or not..." She-Wolf replied.
And so it was, Vigilante and the She-Wolf traveled together for quite some time, becoming more than friends, they were sisters now, and they always would be. Vigilante pestered the She-Wolf to find a new mate, leave Firefly behind, get him out of her head...and she had agreed. It was the only time in her life that she agreed with Vigilante about such a topic. She had convinced herself that she didn't need another mate, that Vigilante would always be there to keep her safe...But as it was now, Vigilante had left her alone in this strange yet wonderous valley, relying soley on intuition and the false hope of Love...
