Fang looked up at Kerryn, distaste flashing through his white eyes. His grin didn't falter, but his eyes twitched slightly. What was the young fae playing at??
Rae remained silent, feeling strange flutters as she shared Kerryn's longing to say something smart to Fang, but also a wariness, for this wolf was a demon and he reeked of it.

But the curiosity she was allowed to feel flared up in her. She knew most demons had a past of some sort. She turned and she faced Fang, before looking deep into his eyes, and she suddenly turned her empathy to him.
The fury, the loathing, the anger was unbearable, but she searched through it, her lips curling back in a snarl, before she finally found what she was looking for.

Loss ... mourning ... grief ... heartache
He'd lost something, or someone it looked like, Rae thought to herself, thinking quickly. But she had no time to investigate further. Fang's emotions suddenly ceased, leaving both he and Rae standing motionless, eyes blank and staring.
But Rae was used to not having emotions and recovered quickly. She looked blandly up at Fang, whos eyes where glaring at her. She swore silently. He'd sensed somehow what she was doing, and had blotted her out completely.

Clever, came the unwilling thought to Raendel's mind.
Suddenly, Fang lifted his maw to the sky and howled. His throat muscles were working, his mouth forming the perfect "O", but the sound did not come. The friendly yip from another wolf broke into the taut silence, and Rae focused on that, feeling another fear of Fang replacing the happiness Reed had been experiencing a moment ago.
Rae detached herself.
[glow=white,2,300]And the years go by so fast[/glow]
She had no choice. Everything was being sucked out of her, and she knew it was Fang's doing. Any joy she had been sharing with the stranger, Reed, was disappearing, any hope or happiness, any feeling that shone light apon their lives, leaving Rae feeling like she wanted to die, there and then, to launch herself into the river and not come back up again.
[glow=white,2,300]Silent fortress built to last[/glow]
Fang's howl had left her with some bitterness that she was allowed to share, for the demon was injecting it into her, and she moved as though in a trance towards the river, her ankles disappearing beneath the water, which suddenly seemed dark and mysterious to the female wolf.
[glow=white,2,300]Wonder how I ever made it through...[/glow]
