The thicket was especially quiet today, there were no sounds save for the soft crunching of twigs beneath the males paws. He was not exceptionally big, simply average sized. His ears, perhaps, were slightly larger than average, but that's not exactly important. His thick black coat was matted and filled with burrs from the thicket, His soft tan underbelly and chin were no longer simply tan, the deep crimson color of blood now stained them both. The thicket had been cruel towards him today, poking and tearing at his soft flesh with it's sharp projections.
Why he was here, he didn't exactly know. Perhaps it was the fact that he was now as far from home as he could possibly be. Perhaps it was the fact that no one else was around...or perhaps he was simply lost in this spiny thicket, desperatly trying to weave his way through.
The bloodied male heaved a sigh, squeezing himself through the twisted vines, his back getting torn by the spiny thorns. He yelped in suprise as his paw landed on another of the thorny vines, causing him to start and leap up...right into another branch. This display of utter clumsiness went on for a few moments, causing him to become tangled in the spiny twigs and vines. "...What is the matter with me?" He cursed himself "...Maybe if I just...wiggle this way... I can..." He began wiggling his bottom, trying to break free from the vines grip "...Now if I just step...here..." He yanked his front right paw from in between two vines to place it straight out in front of him "...And if I just pull myself..." He grabbed a less spiny branch in his powerful jaws and began tugging, wiggling his bottom and stepping forewards every time he had the chance. With much effort and very much patience, he finally freed himself. He tenderly licked his paw, hunching low to avoid hurting his back again. His golden eyes scanned the area around him, it was quite a dismal situation. There seemed no way out of this nasty thicket...Until his eyes fell on...a path? Was it truly a path? He stared in awe for a moment before leaping through the thorns, his fur getting tugged at and ripped out by the tiny projections. He leapt over the last bit of the thicket, his paws landing heavily on the path. He laughed happily, prancing around in a tight circle. "Revolution, you've done it!" he exclaimed, continuing his happy dance. Suddenly a twig cracked loudly. He stopped instantly, his large ears flicking this way and that, his tail dipping between his legs. His body began to shake uncontrolibly as he looked around, his eyes widening with terror. What else would be out in such a dismal place? More importantly, why was it there?
