Altara felt herself hauled onto the back of another, not onto Caleb, but onto Chaim, the wolf whom she had seen fighting.
She felt extremely guilty; this wolf was carrying her, and she was likely to be slowing him down no end. She struggled to stay upright, not knowing exactly how to hold on with her paws.
Seatbelts hadn't exactly been installed.
She turned, waiting to see Caleb, running toward her, drawing up alongside, grinning.
Instead, she lay her eyes on something that turned her blood to ice. Caleb was, at that moment, launching himself into the mass of bears.
Altara felt the scream starting up inside her head, a shrill, earsplitting noise, and yet she was too shocked to let it escape her mouth.
It took her until Caleb was racing away, luring many bears off, that she found her voice. The noises almost seemed to come from her heart instead of her mouth, as she started screaming Caleb's name.
She jerked herself sideways and rolled off Chaim, landing on her back but springing to her feet, swigning herself round to face the fast approaching bears that had not changed course.
She felt fear grip her heart, both for herself and for her brother.
But the cold hard truth was...
There was nothing she could do.
She felt tears roll down her cheeks as she turned away from the diappearing figure of Caleb and hurtled on, her legs picking up speed quickly, for she was a very fast wolf.
She looked around wildly. What could she do? These wolves were running in a blind panic, Riddle was struggling simply to control them all. But they couldn't stay together. Safety in numbers just wouldn't work.
But the way those bears had stumbled over eachother, even killing eachother, as Caleb had vanished in their midst made Altara think that they didn't have the sharpest minds of all.
If they were to split up, all branch off in different directions...?
Would that work?
Right now, Altara wasn't sure, but anything was better than this. Wolves were fast, but bears are too.
She carried on running ahead, trying to reach Riddle and tell him of her idea, that was most likely to fail.
But they'd have tried. Right now, they were showing the bears the very backs that the giant creatures would soon tears open. Perhaps they could confuse them enough to pause and give them all a head start?
Altara drew up next to Riddle, eyes raw with tears for her brother, whom she feared for desperately.
"Split up."
She gasped her simple words and she ran, veering sharply to the left and vanishing into the darkness.
Zharradan, meanwhile, had his own ideas. He watched as Altara swung in another direction, though he was not concentrating on her. His fur was standing on end, an invisible breeze was throwing his fur backwards and he was whispering quietly under his breath.
Anyone who had seen him call up the dead before would know what he was doing.
As Altara had, Zharradan knew that confusing the bears was the best way to berid of them and give them a chance of escape. About twenty more wolves, apparently appearing out of nowhere, that could not be killed seemed a good way of bewildering them...
Zharradan jerked his head and pointed his maw towards the bears, whilst some white shadows, as is the best description, rose and drifted idlly towards them, not knowing nor caring the purpose for being there.
They stood in a ragged line before the bears.
Even Zharradan wondered what would happen should the bears make contact with the dead???
Running a little slowly, breathing laboured after his fight, Fang watched as the dead floated at the bears. He swung his white gaze angrily to Zharradan and slowed a little to look back at Chaim. Fang dug his heel in and he skidded in a circle so he was facing the masked wolf behind him.
He glared, though his tail was dropping slowly down a little.
He wanted no more bloodshed. Not right then.
Very reluctantly and almost painfully, Fang walked towards Chaim, who was running, though no longer with a female 'pon his back.
"There was a cub missing."
Fang snarled, unable to keep his voice as harmless as he was holding his body.
"Tell me. What do you know of it?"
Chaim's words, linking up, little by little. He had to know something. He had to. And Fang needed to know. In fact, he looked a little pitiful, worried, and very concerned, some normal wolf shining through his anxiety for the pup among his dead children that had not been reaching for him.
Fang's eyes drilled helplessly into Chaim's. Chaim wasn't going to speak, Fang guessed. Well, why should he? Because the demon was actually having a heart for a moment?
Fang wrinkled his nose in self-scorn. He was stupid to even think of trying.
He turned himself away. What was the point? He wasn't going to die in his past. He was going to let others die in the future...

o{ Chaim }o
His head pounding as though a drummer was beating a stick 'pon it, due to the screaming that Altara was indulging in, Chaim shifted his head as much as he could to one side, yet didn't see anything until she pulled herself off of him.
Swearing silently, but being unable to do anything such as turning and seeing what had made her leap off of his back, Chaim could only continue his race away from the bears, bells jingling insanely with every step, eyes glowing brightly under his mask.
A sudden sound of paws pounding against the earth made him flinch; wondering whether 'twas a bear or a wolf. A second later, Altara had rushed past him, calming him quite a lot, and amusing him some to see that she was such a fast runner.
The sudden sight of Fang swinging around and stopping dead made the masked male dig his paws into the ground; in an attempt to stop himself from bulldozing Fang. Snapping furiously at the male, body now at a complete standstill, Chaim swung his head around to see that the bears were still, mindlessly, lumbering after the fleeing wolves- with the only difference now being that quite a few of them had vanished, seemingly.
Glaring back at Fang, Chaim noticed the movement of Fang's tail, and lifted his lips in an alarming manner; not wanting bloodshed either, but not wanting Fang near him all the more. Hearing the male's words, he gave a low, aggravated snarl, eyes drilling right back into Fang's.
"Asher."
His voice a low hiss, that one word so very full of meaning, Chaim dared another look behind him and blinked in confusion- for most of the remaining bears were slowing now; to stare at glowing figures which had arisen from the ground before them.
He watched, quite shocked, as the bears all either lunged at the wolf figures, or simply bulldozed straight through them. It didn't seem as though the figures affected the bears as they did the wolves- but they sure as hell kept them distracted for the time being; the bears were trying to rip apart what they couldn't, but a couple soon tired of that, and lumbered after the flesh and blood they had been chasing before.
Gving an alarmed snarl, Chaim turned back to Fang, eyeing the male icily, before moving as quickly as his pained paws would allow him, gradually getting faster until he broke back into the pace he'd been before- though now, he was quite far behind the others, unfortunately for him, in his opinion. o{ Caleb }o
Never once stopping to see if the bears were still in pursuit, Caleb did indeed appear to be flying across the plain that he'd broken through vegetation to get onto; body sending him hurtling away from the bears chasing his small figure, eyes trained on the ground ahead.
He almost stopped dead at what he saw- a fox's den.
A bark of delight sailing past his lips, he veered slightly to the right, his pace never once slowing until he was within a few metres of the den.
Plunging his body into the hole in the ground, he gave a low, delighted growl; as he felt the thickness of the earth above him; and saw how it would take the bears the whole of the day too get to him, at least.
And then, they'd have to find him again- for he wasn't sitting or lying down, no.
Instead, his paws were digging at the ground, the earthy roof above him holding the weight of the bears as they lumbered onto the den, losing his scent briefly- even after they found it again, it would be so time, though, before their slow minds realised that they'd have to dig him out.
Paws scraping powerfully at the softer earth beneath him, pushing it back with ease, Caleb found himself moving at a slower pace than usual, and growled softly- he'd worn himself out more than he'd thought whilst running.
Falling entirely silent, to listen too the grunts and snorts of the bears above, Caleb gave a soft, thankful sigh as the heavy thumps of paws started up again; but more quietly now, as the bears apparantly didn't find his scent again, and walked away; most likely, back to wherever the hell they'd come from.
Waiting a further five minutes, Caleb smirked to himself, for no new sounds had come to him whilst underground- he was sure that the bears had gone.
Thus, when his head popped quickly up through the hole, and he saw nothing but the bears lumbering slowly away, he smiled slightly, and pulled himself out, rushing quickly in the opposite direction of those bears; heading, in a wide arc, across several plains- a destination which would take him around the bears, and most likely around the wolves too; where he would be able to call to some, if not all, of them, and bring them to the shelter he had seen hidden amongst a clump of trees quite close to the fox's den- a series of rock structures, and caves; large enough for all the wolves to fit in, but small enough for no bears to be able to enter.
